Kremlin: need honest and legitimate elections – Neelov

The fact that the country needs fair elections, said Vyacheslav Volodin, deputy head of the Kremlin administration. Elections to local authorities should be legitimate, fair and competitive. He stated this at a seminar for governors and mayors of large cities.

Regional Representatives need to ensure public confidence regarding the results of the election. Now the most important task is to implement the formula of the political system. This legitimacy, and competitiveness and openness, Volodin said. Analysis of previous elections showed that the main thing in them is confidence of voters to candidates, rather than the percentage of the vote.
