The applicants say infringement religion and affordable education.

On appeal turned 7 applicants, all of them – the parents of girls who are banned from coming to school in religious headscarves. A photo of one of the students even took off with the school board of honor, calling her a nervous breakdown. Decree regulating the appearance of students and forbidding hats in the school building, adopted in May 2014, after that September 2 girls in headscarves are not allowed on the school line, says one of the applicants Kamil Badrudtinov.

In October last year, the Supreme Court of Mordovia left the appeal, the decision confirmed today.

Lawyer Vladimir Ryakhovskiy says that not even contested the ban itself, and the powers in the region to install it, as it narrows the operation of the rules of the Constitution can only federal legislation.

The Government of Mordovia, and prosecutors did not see in the actions of the competent authorities of discrimination against Muslims, and explain solutions taking care of the students themselves. The journalists said the representative of the government of Mordovia Anna Chuikov.

The representative of the Mordovian government stressed that the ban was adopted to emphasize the secular character of education, however, according to Kamil Badrudtinov on the same line, which drove the girls in headscarves, with a welcome message to the students approached an Orthodox priest. According to the applicants, the prohibition of Mordovia authorities seriously exacerbate inter-ethnic situation in the region with which there were no problems. And one of the lawyers Marat Ashimov directly warned about the possibility of radicalization if local Muslims do not feel protected by the State.

In July 2013 the Supreme Court rejected a similar complaint from Muslims of Stavropol, upheld a regional ban on headscarves in school attendance.

The head of the Council of Muftis of Russia Ravil Gaynutdin appealed to President Vladimir Putin to protect the right of Muslim women to wear the hijab in educational institutions. This request caused problems faced by Muslims in different parts of Russia – said “Echo of Moscow” the deputy head of the board of Rushan Abbyasov. Abbyasov noted that in some regions of Russia in schools raised the issue of termination of parental rights in families that allow girls to wear the hijab.

The Supreme Court of Russia on the subject of wearing religious clothing will lead to even more controversial – the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin. In these circumstances, you need to seriously discuss the issue of whether or not whether to provide school government to decide the issue, as in fact happens in many places – said Chaplin. In the words of Archpriest in an interview to “Interfax”, “defending secularism, actually defend the freedom of their own improper conduct.”

Deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on Education Victor Shudegov sees no reason to allow headscarves in Russian schools. This was the deputy said in an interview with Tass.
