The State Duma passed the senators request to the Constitutional Court to postpone the election – to Pravda.Ru

During the plenary session on Tuesday, the head of the Duma Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Vladimir Pligin proposed to exclude the issue from the agenda, reports “Interfax”.

He recalled the statement by Sergei Naryshkin, who noted that the Federation Council is a neutral party, and that is why senators should send a request to the Constitutional Court.

“And the State Duma and the Federation Council – the component parts of Parliament. We adopt a law to postpone the elections. And we ourselves also send a request to the Constitutional Court – in our opinion, is not correct and not entirely logical” – said earlier with “Pravda.Ru” the vice-speaker of the State Duma Igor Lebedev (LDPR).

Recall, June 11, it became known that the State Duma received a bill to postpone the elections in December 2016 on the third Sunday of September of the same year. Its authors were made by State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin and the leaders of the three parliamentary factions – Vladimir Vasilyev (“United Russia”), Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR) and Sergey Mironov (“Fair Russia”).
