White House shares the view of the Russian Federation on NBC, but did not agree with her assessment of NATO – RIA Novosti

WASHINGTON, Dec. 28 – RIA Novosti. The White House shares the position of Russia on the threat of extremism and weapons mass destruction, but does not agree with the assessment of possible threats from NATO, said Sputnik senior US official.

The new version of Russia’s military doctrine was approved by the president on Friday. The nature of the doctrine is still defensive, Russia intends to use military force only if the diplomatic measures have been exhausted. In the new edition introduces the concept of “non-nuclear deterrence” – it is about maintaining high readiness of general purpose forces. The doctrine allows for the emergence of new threats to Russia, in particular related to the situation in Ukraine and around it, the events in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. These challenges are also related expansion of NATO to Russia’s borders, the creation of a global missile defense plans and strategic placement of weapons in space.

“We have seen reports of the new doctrine and study it. We share the desire of Russia to prevent conflict by working together in the international arena, as well as on issues of concern to both sides, such as violence by extremists, and the prolif eration of weapons of mass destruction” – said a spokesman for the White House.

“However, we believe that the greatest threat to European and international stability comes today from nations that are trying to change the internationally recognized borders by force and take destabilizing actions that violate the territorial integrity and sovereignty of neighbors, as it continues to make Russia in Ukraine, “- said a senior administration official. US does not recognize the annexation of Crimea to Russia on the results of the March referendum and accused Russia of interfering in the situation in Ukraine, Moscow denies.

“The expansion of NATO over the years demonstrated the strength of stability and cooperation, based on the sovereign choice of specific countries and was intended to build a complete, free and peaceful Europe, united democratic values,” – said the representative of the Russian White House concern about the activities NATO.
