Advisor to the President proposed to limit the Internet on the example of China – NEWSru.com

to Ensure information security in Russia is possible only under the condition restricting the Internet like China. This opinion was expressed by adviser to the President on the Internet Herman Klimenko, lectures on “Information security of Russia” at the Military Academy of the General staff of the armed forces.

“one Way is the Chinese version. Certainly, control is necessary because there are no opportunities to prevent it. China less sensitive to public opinion, they evaluated the threat and limited the Internet. Now they have no such problems”, – quotes the words of Mr. Klymenko Interfax.

Klimenko also noted that foreign companies working in Russia, not responding to requests from Russian law enforcement agencies.

“We’re in a strange position, when the territory of the Russian Federation is a foreign company, earns money, nevertheless, to any request of law enforcement she did not answer. Sorry, we can’t write in WhatsApp” and ask them to disable encryption”, Klimenko said, adding that if the foreign messengers and social networks will not cooperate with law enforcement agencies, “any self-respecting state ought to throw them away”.

Later Klimenko commented and said that he had not proposed to restrict Russia’s Internet, according to “Newspaper.ru”.

“I just gave a lecture on the topic, what are the scenarios of development of the Internet,” — said Klimenko, explaining that the basis of it was a retelling of the report of the analyst Konstantin Kostin on Internet regulation in different countries.

“It wasn’t even an interview, don’t know what to comment on. Just told how the Internet is regulated. Normal household situation”, — said the presidential adviser.

meanwhile, Klymenko said that the Chinese version of the regulatory Network is impossible in Russia. “It is impossible for Russian citizens, if we are going somewhere, on his way” — Klimenko said.

Note that China has very strict Internet censorship. In particular, the authorities block access to popular websites, including social network Facebook and Google, as well as struggling with the tools to bypass locks.

Recall that in late December last year, Klymenko declared, that Russia should be ready “to disconnect from the global Internet” in case of deterioration of relations with the West. The next day, the possibility of such a scenario rejected Vice-President of ICANN that manages domain names and Internet infrastructure.

In November, Freedom House provided another report Freedom on the Net 2016 to assess the level of Internet freedom in various countries. According to analysts, in comparison with last year Russia has worsened its performance in this area and joined the group of countries with not free Internet.
