Russian long-range bombers struck at ISIS in Syria – RBC

Six long-range bombers Tu-22M3 taking off from the territory of Russia, caused an airstrike on a group of objects banned terrorist organization ISIS in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor. About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the press service of the defense Ministry.

the objectives of the bombers became “base camp gangs, warehouses of weapons and ammunition, a congestion of armored machinery and manpower”. According to the objective control of all assigned objects, successfully hit, the defense Ministry reported.

the Bombers covered the su-30CM and su-35S c airfield Hamim. Performing combat tasks, the Tu-22M3 bombers returned to Russia.

Earlier, on 29 December, President Vladimir Putin approved the proposal of the Minister of defence Sergei Shoigu to reduce the grouping of the Russian armed forces in Syria. The President noted that Russia will continue to support the Syrian government in the fight against terrorism. 6 January 2017, the Ministry of defense began to reduce the group of Russian troops in Syria.
