The CPS has extended the ban on realization of alcohol products – RBC

Ban on sale of alcohol products in Russia extended for 60 days. This is stated in the message published on the official website of Rospotrebnadzor.

the Ministry noted that the earlier ban “has not had a negative impact on the economic activities of legal and fair business”. In this regard, the CPS has prepared a proposal for the renewal of his terms. This decision was also supported by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

the Ban on the sale of alcohol-containing household products in Russia was introduced since 26 Dec. Initially the validity period is set to 30 days. According to the report, over the past month thanks to this measure, managed to withdraw more than 500 thousand units of non-food alcohol-containing products and a 33% decrease in the number of cases of poisoning. 65% reduction in the number of cases of deaths as a result of poisoning with such products.

Earlier, on 11 January, the Federal service reported that in Russia for violating the ban were arrested 545 thousand liters of alcohol-containing non-food products. Specialists of the Department conducted an audit of 31.4 thousand outlets.

Ban on sale of alcohol-containing household products were introduced in connection with the mass poisoning concentrate “Hawthorn” in the Irkutsk region, which took place at the end of December 2016. As it turned out, the cause of poisoning were included in the concentrate methanol and antifreeze. After consumption of the concentrate died 77 people.

In mid-January, amid reports of mass poisoning, the government sent positive feedback on the submitted to the Duma a bill which seriously toughens penalties for illegal production and sale of alcohol, alcohol and alcohol-containing products.
