More than 170 athletes from different countries signed a letter in which they demand resolute action from the International biathlon Union (IBU) in connection with a doping investigation. It is reported by the Czech portal ceskatelevize.cz with reference to the head of the local Federation of biathlon Jiri the Hamza.
“We believe that the time has come for bold steps from IBU. You must at least suspend athletes who are suspected of violating anti-doping rules,” said Hamza.

the Signing of the letter took place in Ruhpolding, Germany, which hosted the world Cup.
the head of the IBU Anders Besseberg told TASS that it is not directed against Russia, but against doping as a global problem.
“This is a normal letter, which talks about things that we are discussing at each meeting of the IBU Congress. Athletes and federations want to get involved in doping scandals more harshly punished by the international Union, but the letter in no way directed against Russia only. This is a common document, addressed to all countries,” said Besseberg.
22 December, the international biathlon Union (IBU) has decided to conduct an investigation in respect of the Russian biathlon Union (RBU) and 29 Russian athletes mentioned in the report of the Commission of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA) under the leadership of Richard McLaren. Two Russian biathlete party Olympics in 2014, whose names are not called, removed from the competition. The RBU, in turn, refused the right to host the March world Cup in Tyumen.
