The President visited the restored church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Tsarskoye Selo, which has been restored recently to the 700th anniversary of abbot of the Russian land, and put a candle there.
In the morning, in the temple ceremony of consecration of the restored building. Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. This action completes the nationwide celebration of the jubilee year of the 700th anniversary of Sergei of Radonezh.

The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh was built in 1904 for the soldiers of the Life Guards of the 2nd infantry battalion of the Tsarskoye Selo (from 1910 year – regiment). Chief of division was the son of Emperor Alexander II, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. 110 years ago, the church was consecrated in the presence of Emperor Nicholas II. Since the foundation of the temple has become a monument to the heroes of the arrow.
In 1921, the church was closed, decoration destroyed, and the bell tower was demolished. Only in 2012 the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, the restoration work was carried out with the assistance of the Board of Trustees. Temple will work with spiritual and educational center of the Tsarskoye Selo deanery.
