 Russia in January 2016 exported 1.969 million tons of grain and its products, which is 26% less than in January 2015 (2.658 million tons), according to Rosselkhoznadzor.

Most of the exports – 1.225 million tonnes ( 62%) was wheat. In January last year, its share in the export of grain was higher – 73%, the volume – 1.954 million tons.

It is also noted that since the beginning of the 2015-2016 agricultural year (from 1 July 2015 to 31 January of the current year) on exports shipped 24.89 million tons of grain, including wheat – 17.28 million tonnes.

A new, introduced on the year, the duty on export of wheat from Russia started to operate with the July 1, 2015. The reason for this was the growing activity of exporters who increase sales of grain to foreign markets for currency and sought thus to benefit from a sharp drop in the ruble.

From October 1, the Russian government has changed the export tax on wheat. Deductible portion was increased from 5.5 thousand. 6.5 thousand. Rubles per ton. The minimum amount of tax has been reduced from 50 to 10 rubles per ton.
